In my family there are A LOT of parties we go to in the summer. And EVERYONE in my family has a pool. I liked it last year. But just this October I got my period for the first time. And I later thought that during the summer if the party is planned during a day I have my period, I wouldn't be able to swim. Tampons freak me out to death! I don't know why but I can't imagine sticking one of those in me! And during these summer parties when everyone's swimming I would look like the odd ball out. I'm mean it's embarressing sitting out there and not joining in. What can I do?

Get used to tampons. You've got time between now and then. Otherwise, there's no way you'll be able to swim. You can start using the smallest, lightest version of tampons. They really aren't that bad--I promise.

I'm freaked out of tampons as well and I went in a pool with nothing on and I had just started my period in November....it doesn't work for every1 but your flow tends to stop in water

There is no reason to be afraid of tampons. You could just wear a tampon for this one time thing and then after that you can go back to pads.

Tampons are not bad and you can't even feel them, it might take some time but, there not bad I'm telling you. Plus your missing out on fun if you don't.

why do tampons scare you to death? lol, that's so funny... millions of women wear them. just experiment with a finger before an actual tampon. I bet once you get used to tampons you'll wonder why you ever so afraid or why you waited.

you are just gonna have to suck it up and use a tampon. Trust me...its better to have that inside you than blood all over a pad in your underwear...they are so much easier and cleaner to use...you just need to try one and try to get over this fear!!
