The execution of Saddam Hussein is nothing more fabulous than other executions in those Middle Eastern nations, the only difference being that Hussein's trial was widely publicized, therefore his execution as well.

His execution had two major stands:
The Shiites, whom he persecuted ruthlessly in his 30-year dictatorship, and
The Sunnis, who supported him in his reign.

Terrorist attacks will never stop anyway, but Hussein's execution will be used as yet another excuse for more deadly attacks on the innocent.

Bush has only the great misfortune to have been in office when 9/11 occurred.

I think it was great. I feel its unbelievable how people are actually outraged that such a man who killed hundreds was finally given his karma. I know had any of those people he slaughtered in Iraq had been my family I would have been celebrating the day he was put to death. Guarantee had Saddam been given life in prison, people would have still complained and said he deserves the death penalty. Just goes to show that no matter how things are done, you just cant make everyone happy.

the execution would have been more powerful if it came 5 months after the invasion. NOW, Saddam is soooooooooo not the problem in Iraq anymore, his execution is like a sad joke.

I do not support public executions under normal circumstances, but Saddam Hussein was exceptional. He was a head of state who murdered at least 300,000 of his own citizens, not including combat deaths., and ran a regime of systematic torture and fear. His execution has to be witnessed by those who are willing.

i think he was a murderer and deserves to die in a bery horrible way but- hanging wasn't a good idea. They should have tortured him first. I don't beleive in cruel & unusual punishment but in my country when people do horrible things- they are bruttally killed afer a series of torture hours. Bu-t i'm also Christian and don't beleive poeple should kill people. If his life would have been spared- they should have put him in a prison and let him rot in there until he dies!

Yeah he IS the man (forget about your little stupid not). I thought that hanging was letting that scumbag off easy I would have rather seen him dismembered with a pair of wire cutters one joint at a time starting with his fingers and then toes then arms then legs and so on and so on and so on until he died that would have been a punishment that fitted his crimes.

He was a pretty bad guy and the Iraqi government did what they felt was necessary as punishment. I think it was very wise for the US to allow the Iraqi people to handle the punishment.

Aside from U.S. politics, I say it's about time. The trial was becoming a joke. Now he's gone for good.
