I am 12 years old and I really want to start ballet. It sounds like a lot of fun, but I’m afraid that 12 is too old to start or that I won’t be able to do anything right. Help, please!

You just need to find a beginner group in your age range. As you get better you can move into more advanced classes. Just remember to have fun, ask questions if you have them and dont be self concious, you'll do great and have fun too

It is true that it is always easier to do something when you start younger. However, if you really love ballet, I'm sure you can accomplish very much. Another thing, don't just start ballet because it sounds fun. Ballet takes a lot of work. I did ballet when I your age, and I remember practicing every day in our basement. It was also very fun. I think you should go for it, but be prepared to work hard and spend a lot of time on this sport.

You are never to old to start dancing. I train in LA at a very well known school and there are tons of people who start ballet recreation way into their 40's 50's even older! 12 is a perfect time to start if it is something you want to do for fun! Don't think that everyone will make fun of you or anything, because everyone knows that it is hard to start something new and something that is technically challenging like ballet. Just stay focused and have fun and you will pick it up! don't expect to be perfect, just enjoy learning and getting better. Perfect is just a state of mind anyways :D

If you enjoy it and want to do it, then don't let anyone stop you!

OF COURSE! Some of the best ballet dancers out there didn't start dance until they were like 12 or 13. If it is something that you want to do then go for it!

I think it is kinda too late to tell you the truth. I am a ballerina and I started ballet when I was 6 years old and now I'm 16 and as you get older you have more experience than your friends. If you start now you won't have the flexibility that you had when you were younger. When you are little your bones are developing so it is easier to sculpt them the way it's needed. But if you really wanna do it then go for it but you really have to work hard. Good Luck!!!!

You can never be too old to start any form of dance!!! If you eventually want to do ballet as a career though, all you have to do is work your butt off till its raw because you have a very big disadvantage. But other than that, GO FOR IT

it's never too late to start something, especially if it's something you really want to do. go for it! try and find a beginners class near you, preferably one around your age group so you don't feel too left out. of course you'll be able to do it right; all it takes is practice, i'm sure you'll be wonderful!12 may be too late to be a top professional (only a maybe, you could be a star), but it doesn't mean you can't have a good hobby! good luck and have fun! besides, if you don't try, you'll never know how good it was...

No matter what anyone says, there is never an age when it's too old to start dancing. How good you will be depends on how badly you want to improve. Don't let your age get you down, dance is really fun and a great way to express yourself! If you want to start dancing, go for it, I garuantee you'll be glad you did!

I've always wanted to learn ballet, too. I'm going to take lessons while I'm in college. I'm 18. It isn't ever too late to learn something new.
