Why does a Mercedes Benz GL model 2007 cost so cheap in United Staes while in Europe and Italy the retail price is almost USD 30.000 extra. Does
Mercedes want more people to enjoy a luxury SUV, while in Italy we must be rich to own such a SUV.

This is an easy question, The Mercedes Benz was bought out by Chrysler and is now regulated by American export laws even though their might be a factory in Italy.

I don't think they even offer the diesel engine in a GL in the states. If they do, let me know, I'd love to have one.

They are making the GL's in Alabama now, so there aren't any import tariffs here, whereas there likely are in Italy. Complain to your government. It isn't Daimler Chrysler's fault.

Are you sure your looking at the same car? a GL is different than a G.

Taxes, for the most part. US taxes are MUCH lower than Italian taxes.
