My doctor keeps telling me to take Ibprophen. I've upped the dosage. I've heard it is bad but I know it's not as bad as aspirin because not everyone can have aspirin. I went from 600mg a day to 1200mg a day for about 4 months now I think I'm going to stop because I don't want to effect my health. It was taking it for a foot problem so they wouldn't get inflamed. I'm seeing a foot doctor soon to solve this problem but if there are any recommendations feel free to post them.

Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, etc) has been documented in the medical literature to cause at least 16,500 deaths per year and over 100,000 hospitalizations per year in the U.S. It should never be taken 'routinely' or 'long-term'. You may want to try another doctor, one that will work with you to find and fix the CAUSE of your foot problem. Treating the symptoms with dangerous drugs is like playing Russian Roulette.

Best wishes and good luck.

As an earlier respndant said; Ibuprophen is bad for the liver and aspirin can cause stomach ulcers. Make sure you are following your doctor's orders as to the amount you are taking. Check with your doctor but 1200mg is not that much.

Good Luck.

It's hard on your liver when taken long-term. It can also cause stomache problems (although so can aspirin). If you were taking it under doctor's orders, I would assume it was ok, but if you aren't comfortable taking it, you should discuss it with your doctor before stopping it entirely.

yes. there are warnings now about using it too often. ups the risk for heart attack, can increase blood pressure.
tumeric is a good replacement. if you can't get 1 tsp of it down you can buy the extract.
