Hi there...unfortunately, PETA misreprents themselves to the everyone. They haved euthanizd more animals than any shelter does annually and so much more that the public doesn't know about, but there's more than this which would take a novel to write about.
Here's a website which will enlighten you about the truth of PETA:
http://www.petakillsanimals.com/petaKillsAnimals.cfm
A list of 7 things most people do not know about PETA:
1) PETA president and co-founder Ingrid Newkirk has described her group’s overall goal as “total animal liberation.” This means no meat, no milk, no zoos, no circuses, no wool, no leather, no hunting, no fishing, and no pets (not even seeing-eye dogs). PETA is also against all medical research that requires the use of animals.
2) Despite its constant moralizing about the “unethical” treatment of animals by restaurant owners, grocers, farmers, scientists, anglers, and countless other Americans, PETA has killed over 14,400 dogs and cats at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. During 2005, PETA put to death over 90 percent of the animals it collected from members of the public.
3) PETA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent criminals. This includes a 2001 donation of $1,500 to the North American Earth Liberation Front (ELF), an FBI-certified “domestic terrorist” group responsible for dozens of firebombs and death threats. During the 1990s, PETA paid $70,200 to an Animal Liberation Front (ALF) activist convicted of burning down a Michigan State University research laboratory. In his sentencing recommendation, a federal prosecutor implicated PETA president Ingrid Newkirk in that crime. And PETA vegetarian campaign coordinator Bruce Friedrich told an animal rights convention in 2001 that “blowing stuff up and smashing windows” is “a great way to bring about animal liberation.”
4) PETA activists regularly target children as young as six years old with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda, often waiting outside their schools to intercept them as they walk to and from class-without notifying parents. One piece of kid-targeted PETA literature tells small children: “Your Mommy Kills Animals!” PETA brags that its messages reach over 2 million children every year, including thousands reached by e-mail without the permission of their parents. One PETA vice president told the Fox News Channel’s audience: “Our campaigns are always geared towards children, and they always will be.”
5) PETA has used a related organization, the PETA Foundation, to fund the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a deceptive animal rights group that promotes itself as an unbiased source of medical and nutritional information. PCRM's president also serves as president of the PETA Foundation.
6) PETA runs campaigns seemingly calculated to offend religious believers. One entire PETA website is devoted to the claim-despite ample evidence to the contrary-that Jesus Christ was a vegetarian. PETA holds protests at houses of worship, even suing one church that tried to protect its members from Sunday-morning harassment. Its billboards taunt Christians with the message that hogs “died for their sins.” PETA insists, contrary to centuries of rabbinical teaching, that the Jewish ritual of kosher slaughter shouldn't be allowed. And its infamous “Holocaust on Your Plate” campaign crassly compares the Jewish victims of Nazi genocide with farm animals.
7) PETA has repeatedly attacked research foundations like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, because they support animal-based research that might uncover cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases. PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has said that “even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it.”

I agree with you. I own a showdog, and most showdogs are treated better than many humans. It's not the fault of responsible breeders (who breed dogs for shows, and find good homes for the pet quality dogs they have), its the fault of irresponsible pet owners and puppy mills. People should spay and neuter their pets if they aren't for showing purposes. Some guys want "manly" dogs, OH COME ON!!! Please! We don't need more puppies in shelters. Females should be spayed, too. Some people's excuse is that it would hurt too much. It probably hurts less than birthing multiple litters. Purebreds are not mutants, and neither are mutts. Both purebreeds and mutts are awesome, they can both be loyal and sweet, no matter what they are. And there aremany purebreds in shelters. PETA's anger was definiely misplaced. I ♥ ALL dogs, no matter what breed or breeds they may be.

I believe PETA started out with a fantastic idea, but has lost sight of their original intentions. I love animals and am against most animal testing, including medicines (we are not rats, mice, monkeys or rabbits so should not rely on the result found in them to cure us), hunting, fishing, and any form of animal neglect or abuse, but fighting violence with violence does not work.
Animals need a voice, they cannot speak up or stand up for themselves and there are many people that take advantage of this. Even animals we as humans use as food deserve to live peaceful, happy lives with out having antibiotics, growth hormones and steroids shoved down their throat until they are packed with 100 other animals in an overcrowded truck and sent to slaughter.
There are many animal groups through out the world trying to protects the lives and dignity of animals from all breeds, but do so in a way that will actually make a difference. I believe PETA needs to follow suit with these other groups. They have a lot better chance of reaching people if they do not sink to the level of those they are against.

YES!they go around telling people that they drag cows on the back of cars and all that stuff!my sister was involved with that stuff and she told me that the head of peta is diabetic, and most diabete medicine had animal products in it.well,it's not like we are going to kill the next-door-neighbor's beloved cat!peta is a big joke,it really is.the talk about how hair products and stuff shouldn't be tested on bunnies, but if the shampoo doesnt work and kills the bunny, the wont sell it.we use animals to test products in labs to make sure it is safe for us.but im pretty sure no mice or bunnies where killed by shampoo by all means!i'm against animal cruelty, but im not getting all of that peta stuff.a better organization are things like the aspca who actually help them.

You must believe everything you hear on Fox News.
PeTA is not based on lies, it's just that they often go too far in their tactics. While their intentions may be good, just like the Jesus freaks, their actions do more to drive people away than to get people to ask or learn more. But bottom line is that they do care about animals, they just don't know the right way to get other people to care instead of just riling them up.

YES. Almost everything that PETA spews out of their mouths are lies. They are a very disgusting group with horrible views and values. And yes, they kill more animals than they save. They are more worried about their image (wanting to be known as "radicals") than actually helping animals. Ever read any of their quotes? read some of those and you'll now what horrible people they really are.

Like most "animal rights" groups. They are established on uneducated supidity and a desire to interfer with other peoples rights.

No, they aren't based on lies.
Whoever told you PETA kills animals is a liar. PETA does not believe in killing animals for useless things. PETA does not kill animals.
You have to realize PETA receives tons of emails. Many of them are cranks. They just do not have the time to reply to them all. They NEVER reply to cranks.
