Call the local "Humane department" (welfare) at the County and let them know what's going on. They should be able to find you shelter. This is a non-rent able apartment. He should be close for renting this type of unit.

Why in God's name would you move into a rental with no roof..in the middle of winter...and with kids no less. Call your local housing board ASAP! Unless your state has a provision for withholding rent (most don't), I would strongly advised against it because it can and probably will result in an eviction proceeding to commence.

Good Luck

why did you move in, in the first place...contact the local codes and enforcement department and move out and sue the sox off the landlord for your money back.
