I am currently going to the university of colorado and am looking to transfer just to switch things up. I grew up in Eugene Oregon so i have a pretty liberal background and am not wanting to move somewhere tightcollared and redneck. What is Athens like, would a indie music loving hipster like myself fit in Athens? Will i be able to find a job outside of Athensin a different part of the country once i'm Done going to school there. I dont know just let me know. I party but not very much, and am phobic of pot because of past experiences. So am I going to have to deal with the unbelievable availability and popularity of the drug in athens like i would in eugene and boulder where it pretty much grows in the streets. haha. anyways i dont know just talk to me about it

I have visited Athens a few times. I'm from NC and very liberal myself. Athens is a nice town...a typical college town if you ask me (of course typical here in the south may be different than typical in Colorado or Oregon) with your population of artsy types, jock types, and nerd/study all the time types but I certainly would NOT say Athens is a redneck town. It seemed pretty laid back with some bars and restaurants that feature local artists and such. I'm sure you'll come across the mary jane, but how rampant it is, I don't know. I guess you'll run into that at any liberal arts college.
