New cars designated will run with ethanol.
Older ones should not use it. The car may still run, but the ethanol will eat up the hoses and gaskets and cause you lots of problems. I wouldn't experiment if I were you- it could get expensive in repair work.

Most vehicles already can, this is called a flexible fuel vehicle. Read in your owners manual to find out if your car is one. I know that almost all newer chryslers are, Im not sure about others. Ethanol will not be a big thing in the future, so dont worry. Right now it is still about the same price of gas and you get horrible gas mileage with it. Soon when it is more available, people will just drive the cost up just like we did with gasoline and it will not be the way to go. Id say that within 20 years that most cars will be fully run on hydrogen.

Ethonal has to be mixed with
Gasoline.
Ethonal cannot be used as a
substitute to Gasoline.
The current researches tell
us tht a mixture of 20% Ethonal
and 80% gasoline can make the
existing cars run, without any
alteration in the Cars' carburettors/
combustion mechanism.

Most cars can run on ethona, however Ethonol contains more Oxygen than Gasoline, so if you filled up a normally gas powered car with it.. the car would most likely have a check engine light appear as the O2 sensor would detect a higher oxygen level. Most computers in the cars would need to be reprogrammed to run on the different fuel.

They ALL can run off of a gasoline ethanol blend as long as it is no more that 20% ethanol. Many states already require gasoline to be 105 ethanol across the board.
No vehicle can run on pure ethanol without problems. The closest to pure ethanol in vehicles are vehicles designed to run off of Ethanol 85 which is 85% ethanol.
