I'm going to Reno in November. Would you recommend the Peppermill or JA Nugget?

It really depends on what you are looking to do. The food at both hotels is great and so is the gaming, but I would say that they are two fairly different environments. You will encounter a somewhat older crowd at the Nugget...

Both are okay.

Peppermill has lots of mirrors in the casino area - can't speak to the Nugget (friend has been, says it's okay, not much interesting.)

Pretty much for me, it depends on what is close to what else you will be doing (I don't gamble much, so I don't care about that.)

If you want a more resort like hotel, try the Siena.

If you are travelling with kids, go to Circus Circus - even if you don't stay there - for the free acts :-)

JA Nugget has better food and entertainment.
Peppermill kind of cheesy in my opinion.
