i absolutely hate any kind of southern rock, so i absolutely hate Lynrd Skyrnd (i dont care if im spelling the name wrong!) but id like to know if they were/are racist red necks?

most of the people who answered this question are idiots. if YOU all simply read some of my previous answers, you would find that i am not one bit racist. I dont like southern rock, and did not give collective guilt to the genre as being a racist genre!!!!!!!!!

Well, I would *tend* to doubt it if the original members admitted to being big Jimi Hendrix fans. But there's a *hint* of it about them.

No, they're not racist. I think if you did a little research on the band you'd come to realize that they mostly sing/sang songs about the "Simple Man" (also a title of one of their biggest hits). "Simple Man" meaning your average, red-blooded, hard working man. In reviewing your question and the wording you chose one might assume your racist, in the least narrow-minded, to have formed such a strong opinion of an entire genre of music. Thats okay though. I hate Rap music and think it's racist. But I've got one thing backing-up my view that you do not have.... facts! Just do a little research on the band. Maybe read some lyrics to thier music (in the right context). By the way, Im not a fan of Southern Rock either. So I'm trying to be fair here.

I dont think so. What's so bad about southern rock, try Zakk Wylde album Pride and Glory u might like it but then again!!!

Sounds like you have already formed an opinion of them, knowing nothing about them. Why bother finding out what they are really like? Just go on with your blind prejudice of people you don't know. Sounds like you have a racist personality yourself.

there not racist . jimmy hendrix was one of the people they looked up to in rock n roll . you need to do some looking into what they stood before you say they`re racist.they are and will always kickass
