Why is it When Questions are asked about Pedophiles, Castration is a Common Answer?

Is it not realized that there are females out there that also prey on small children. I have seen many questions and answers that seem to assume all sexual predators are men. Am I the only one who notices this?

Because people mistakenly believe that removal of the penis prevents pedophiles from abusing children in any other way. The desire they have to commit these acts is a mental problem. Although it will prevent some forms of abuse, and can in some cases reduce the desire, it does not eliminate their ability to abuse. And yes, women do this too. (Although it is rare or rarely reported.)

Statistically speaking most pedophiles are male, but you are correct to say that this type of thing is not limited to only males. Castration is commonly given as an answer because in doing so the sexual desire is gone. A female can also be "castrated" but Im not sure what they call it.

It is less common for a woman to predate on others in a sexual way - but I think the "Castration" response is just an emotional one (not necessarily an unreasonable one, just emotional)

I guess, to be fair, the response should be eternal lock up or death - that's equally applicable to men or women.

Good point. However, the majority ARE men and while I dunno if castration would solve their problem, there certainly isn't an equivalent resolution for a female offender. I could be wrong but I don't think that even castration would solve a lot of the men's problems...so much of their perversion is inside their head. True, the penis is the weapon but if that's gone, there are still other ways to violate a child. Have to re-wire the brain, m'dear.

Personally I would rather cover the pedophile with honey and throw them on a huge ants nest in the hot sun for a few days. Then put them in a pool filled with iodine. I would repeat this process for a period of no less then 18 months. Only allowing them to eat stale bread and sour milk every other day.

Well, alot of women have been in the news lately and they should go to jail as well even though if I were younger, it would have been great. I am sure some of the girls that were taken advantage of enjoyed it as well. Castration is mentioned because it is a sickness that has been proven that there really is no cure for it. That is why these people have to register for life. I believe also that ankle bracelets or a chip should monitor the whereabouts of these people for life as well.

Research says that the majority of Pedofiles are male. That is why most people assume it is a man. "Ole Sparky" would be the best solution for a man or a woman. Save the castration for beef.

you are right most do assume pedophiles are all male which is not true, there are as many sick women pedophiles out there as there are men. They should all be painfully tortured for hurting a child. People like that are allowed to live and roam the streets freely, while good people get sick and die or get killed in accidents. Why should they be treated humanely .............THEY OBVIOUSLY AREN'T HUMAN.

Good point. Many years I recall coming across a study done at a prison here in the U.S. It concluded that even if men are castrated, they would still rape women. Rape is about power and control.

It is just plain sick for man or female to do any harm to a child! For women the only possible punishment is jail, but for men, castration seems to "cut short the vicious cycle"....
