Here is some info on the Fourth Amendment, which governs searches, including domestic surveillance. I hope it is a helpful start:

According to rulings by the Supreme Court in the middle seventies, the air is a public domain and belongs to everyone equally. One case was concerning having to pay for a license, another case concerned state troopers listening in on truckers conversations on CB radios to catch them speeding.
So what that means is that when you are using your cell phone the signal (what you are saying is going out into the public domain). So you can't expect privacy in using a cell phone.

If you are not committing any crimes you will have nothing to worry about will you? I find it funny that people are against wire tapping and eavesdropping, yet want to let the government have complete control over their medical files!

I don't mind it. Unless you're doing something wrong then you don't have anything to worry about. If the Feds want to listen to me talk about my grocery shopping, go for it.
