out of ink

You're either out of ink or your cartridge has a clogged print head.

You can try using the cleaning utility built into the printer driver software to clear the clogged nozzles or head over to Inkjet Oasis for tips on cleaning your cartridge print nozzles manually.

There are also printable test pages available for download.

replace the colour cartridge, chances are that you haven't used it is quite sometime and the cartridges have dried up. This means that ink has solidified in the print head preventing any further passage of ink. Lexmarks are awful about this, if occurs in around 30 days of non use. You will have to replace the colour cartridge.
