They hate Haitians for the same reasons as other people hate whatever group of people they hate. Fear and prejudice, but mostly because they have heard that it is the right thing to do all of their lives. There are many reasons people hate other people. Seldom are those reasons truly justified. Most often the imagined slights that started the hatred to begin with happened so long ago that noone remembers or is still alive to remember what started the hatred to begin with. Its not just located towards Haitians. Where I live, we have a lot of racist crap that happens. When I was younger, it was Blacks and Whites, now they are teamed up and hate Hispanics. its stupid.

I'm from the west indies...well london actually but my family are from the west indies and i know other people from surrounding islands and people always say DONT GO TO HAITI or DONT TALK TO A HAITIAN! Even when i went to visit my cousins in florida and they live near some haitians they say i shouldn't look at them or anything like that. It's because everyone associates them with Voodoo. And because to Christians (which is the most popular religion in the Caribbean) associate voodoo with witchcraft and evil they dont like to be associated with Haitians. So in a way it's a sort of fear that something bad will happen to them if they tread the wrong way with a Haitian, so they just dont do it at all.
It's silly really.

because some people are not nice. haitians are known for their spicy attitudes. some of them don't take s h i t from anyone. i know a few soft spoken haitians who go to my school.

Because a good majority of them are mean and sneaky and will put curses on you.
