This seems to be an issue common to my pregnancies, I had this problem with my last baby and I'm having it again now. It's horrible!! I can't go anywhere without carrying with me a bottle to spit in, and I can't hold a decent conversation with anyone for having to keep excusing myself to spit! It's so embarrassing to me, and I'm just curious to know if I'm strange, or if this is actually an issue other women deal with as well...

It's called ptyalism, and it is very common in pregnancy. I have it along with morning sickness.

I never had this problem but I knew someone who did.

She kept a covered coffee cup with her (like a travel mug) that she could discretely spit into if she needed to do so.

Yes! I have been chewing gum and sucking on Life Savers and other similar candy. It doesn't slow the saliva down, but it helps you not realize it as bad.
