He was never elected. He was the Senator form Michigan when Spiro Agnew resigned as Vice President due to problems with the IRS and non payment of taxes. He was appointed by President Nixon to complete the Vice Presidents term then President Nixon resigned to avoid impeachment because of his involvement in Watergate. Thus Ford became our only unelected President.

Then you are going to have to make the same claim about Reagan and Bush sr. who claimed to know nothing about the Iran/Contra scandal, the EPA scandal and the HUD scandal. And you are going to have to say the same thing about Bush who claimed to not know about the pending 9/11 attacks, the false WMD reports and the potential levee breaches in New Orleans. There are currently 106,000 employees in the IRS and the President is suppose to know what each and every one of them is up to? Yeah. Also the AP wiretaps were done within the letter of the law, and the Benghazi "scandal" has now been proved that the so called smoking gun emails had been faked by the Republicans. How was the President suppose to know about something that never happened. The conservatives and their zealot attacks on President Obama are damaging the Republican party so bad that they may never recover.

He was clumsy. He once fell down a flight of airline stairs in front of everyone, including TV camera. When he was president, there was a joke going around that Ford couldn't chew gum and descend stairs. All odd, of course, since Ford was an excellent athlete and football player for the University of Michigan. As far as president, he wasn't that bad, although he served only two years. Didn't get re-elected in 1976 for the sole reason he pardoned Nixon.

Ford became (by appointment) VP when Agnew resigned because of income tax problems. Then he became President when Nixon resigned.

He turned out to be what we needed at the time. Pretty good President if you ask me. It was a pity he lost the bid to be elected President.

He was not elected President or VP. He was Speaker of the House and became President after both Nixon and Agnew resigned. Thus he became President per our Constitution. He will be remembered for calming a nation in the throes of divisiveness after Watergate, including his wisdom in pardoning Nixon.

He used to fall down a lot. Actually it endeared him to a lot of people. Unusual in an American president. You kind of felt sorry for the guy.
