I can't take it! I have a feeling this is going to be a problem throughout my whole pregnancy, I have a bowel movement once a week tops and its torture trying to use the bathroom! My doctor tells me to eat more fiber, I eat prunes, apples all day like its the only thing I eat. I don't know what else to do! Help me! Suggestions?

Colace....an over the counter stool softener is perfectly safe. Just take one at bedtime with a glass of water. Within 17 hours you should have a good bowel movement. I have also had this problem during both of my pregnancies and Colace was suggested by my doctor. I got it at Wal-Mart
To answer your question.....I only have to use it once a week at the most. Contrary to what some on here may believe...it is NOT a laxative, it is just a stool softener. There is even a children's dose. It will loosen you up for about 3-4 days. The actual dosage for an adult is 2 pills, but 1 has always worked fine for me. Also...it will not be diarrhea, it will just soften the stool enough to come out easily.

Is your doctor willing to suggest a fiber supplement, since increasing fiber on your own doesn't seem to be working? I'd suggest leaving a message for him to advise you of a fiber suplement.
My OB recommended fiber con in pill form. I was told to take 2 pills every day with a large glass of Warm water. WARM water is the key, the nurse said, I guess it helps get the fiber to the colon and not the stomach. Then once I was regular (for what ever is 'regular' for you) I was told to take the 2 pills and warm water every other day.
I don't take it all the time now, I just follow those recommendations when I start to get constipated again, which thankfully isn't much.

Find Oleo Med Olive Oil Pills... That is all that is in the plain ones, pharmaceutical grade olive oil. Follow the directions for maximum dose... Perfectly safe, super healthy, and it softens stool and lubricates your digestive tract!
Also, I find that making a smoothie from soy milk, frozen mixed berries and adding Benefiber sends me to the bathroom at least twice.
Use 1.5 cups low fat vanilla soy milk
1 handful of frozen mixed berries (more if you like the smoothie thicker)
and 3 tablespoons of Benefiber
Run in the blender on high for about 45 seconds.
It tastes SUPER YUMMY, can keep you full for a few hours and definitely sends you to the bathroom!
Hope this helps!
Good Luck

Drink lots of water. Lots.
Eat oatmeal, bananas, wheat breads, prune juice, apple sauce. soft foods.
Stay away from dairy, esp cheese.
Taking a laxative should be a last resort when your are preggers.
Don't hang out on the potty, it could give you hemorrhoids. Just try later.

A cup of espresso and a cigarette I actually have heard of a BigMac doing the pastime - I actual does not propose the eating of plastic for therapeutic though. As you're on the alternative drugs web page i'd propose basically a organic wholefood alongside with CHIA SEEDS aka satisfied seeds. they are jam packed with fibre, help with melancholy, short interest span, heart dis-ease, they are an anti inflammatory, lowers severe blood rigidity, large for diabetes, thins the blood - actual it will be a lot less complicated to list what they don't do. hint; If the foodstuff can not turn undesirable - it really is undesirable for you. "at the same time as foodstuff routine is faulty, drugs is of no need. at the same time as foodstuff routine is ideal, drugs is of no choose" An historic Ayuverdic proverb.

Eat raisin bran once a day. After about three or four days you should be having daily bowel movements. It happens a lot when your pregnant. Especially if your taking your prenatal vitamins like you should.

it may be time for him to perscribe something for you if the problem is not clearing up or at least getting easier. One very safe and natural way is to take omega 3 oil capsules. Of course, speak with your doctor about it... but these are known to help lubricate your digestive system and help get things moving. Usually within 2-3 days

You can take metamucil everyday.
You can also use glycerin suppositories (I use the child dose as they are very powerful). They are perfectly safe during pregnancy.
(Well if you were really near your due date I guess it could start labour, but only if your baby was ready to come)
