i'm seeing my doctor tomorrow, so i'm not looking for answers like "go see your doctor." i'm just wondering what the possible reasons could be for a sudden gush of blood, then light spotting for a few days afterwards. i haven't had any pain. i've had 2 blood tests since, and my hcg level has gone up. what could this be? thank you for any info.

If your levels have gone up and you haven't experienced any pain or more bleeding, then you are probably ok. A lot of people spot, especially early in pregnancy, but there could be complications associated with it if it involved a "sudden gush of blood." I think you will get the best information from your doctor tomorrow. I wish you the very best.

I'm glad you are seeing the doc. It could be a subchorionic hemmorhage which is a little blood clot between the placenta and the uterine wall. I had one at 7 weeks and it resolved itself 3 weeks later and I am now 17 weeks pregnant. I had also had the blood tests and they weren't quite what he wanted but were going up so I had an ultrasound. Other than that, I'm not sure. I wish you all the luck.

I have read that sometimes some women have slight bleeding during pregnancy around the time their period should have been, such as 4 weeks, 8 weeks, etc.

I have also read that if a pregnant woman over-exerts herself with too much exercises, too strenuous activity, that it can also cause some bleeding, which should be treated with bed rest.

If your hcg is still rising, you should still be okay.
Wait and see what the doctor says. Good luck and I'll be hoping for you!

Could have been twins and you lost one. Hopefully everything turns out good. Also.. I have heard of having blood clots while pregnant and having them rupture. Having your levels go up still is a GREAT sign. Good luck

Maybe your body was stretching on the inside to accommodate the baby or a blood vessel broke.

maybe your placenta did not attach all the way or came loose a little. I really am not sure but I hope everything goes well with you and I wish you the best of luck.

I HAVE HAD 5 MISCARRIAGES AND WHEN THEY BLOOD TESTED ME MY LEVELS KEPT GPING UP ALSO BUT WHEN I GOT THE ULTRASOUND DONE MY BABY WAS DEAD. I AM NOT SAYING THAT THIS IS YOUR CASE BUT IT MAY BE....JUST GO TO THE DOCTOR WITH AN OPEN MIND AND BE AWARE OF THE POSSIBILITIES SO THAT IT WONT SHOCK YOU. AND IF THAT IS THE CASE JUST REMEMBER THAT GOD KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING AND MAYBE THAT BABY WAS GONNA HAVE BIRTH DEFECTS OR SOMETHING

If it is not miscarriage, I would say maybe a blood vessel up there broke. I know in my last pregnancy I had this happen.
