Most people don't advertise their sexuality as far as I've seen…

At the same time wouldn't you want a parade to tell the world that you're sick of being treated like a second class citizen, tired of watching your friends die and have no one do anything about it (when AIDS first broke out a lot of people thought that it was "God's punishment" and that they should just let the disease take its course! Sick hey? It seems like the only time that people started really fighting the disease was when it started effecting the "mainstream" population).

If you were persecuted just for being yourself wouldn't you want a parade to tell the world "We're still here and despite it all we're going to stay!"?

Eep.... well that's my weekly tirade :D

Cheers,

The purpose of delight parades never has been to teach others that "we are only like each and every physique else." It became and has continuously been approximately self-help. The blatant sexuality does make me balk, however the very reason we are discriminated against is precisely a sexual difference first of all. I comprehend the place you're coming from, and an evolution interior the assumption in the back of delight is so as, and albeit is going on. delight purposes (different than the parades) are lots decrease-key than they was once and aimed in direction of families (in lots of cases).

They all have parades because they are proud of who they are, and if you don't like it don't go to the parade.

Parades and Pride celebrations are the direct result of oppression, discrimination and illegal harassment of gay people by heterosexuals.
