They are both great characters but they both have something annoying about them. All Homer ever does is lay on the couch and eat or go to work and sleep aka he is lazy. Marge well her voice is very obvious. Her voice makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Don't like it. They are great surreal characters on TV but a

yes, i think homer has probably become the central and most favourite character of the show but more by accident than intention.
