Some of the best art and design schools in the US are in NYC, and there are some excellent ones in Boston as well. I recommend you look at the following (depending on your specific area of focus, of course):

Massachusetts College of Art
The School of the Museum of Fine Arts
New York University (film, animation, time-based arts)
The School of the Visual Arts
Parsons
The Pratt Institute
Yale (in New Haven, CT - sort of near NYC. Sort of.)
The Fashion Institute of Technology

And one of the best art schools in the US - I'd argue possibly the best - is in Providence, RI. That's about an hour from Boston. The Rhode Island School of Design. A very, very strong school.

I'm not sure which of these offer one-year, post-graduate programs, so you'll have to check their websites. I know that the Museum School does. I believe that the School of Visual Arts does.

You may also be interested in the Art Students League of NY. They don't offer degree programs, but they are a long-established, very well respected art program.

The Massachusetts College of Art, Emerson College and the School of the Museum of Fine Art are great Boston schools that focus on programs in art and design. Check out this article for more information about Boston Colleges and links for these schools: http://www.macquil.com/articles/boston.php

The people who produce film. The people who provide film attraction to the audience. The artist to show light and sound, art in the film. The creator and business man to find a new market. The actor and entertainer who has a wide range of skill. We educate all kinds of necessary people in the industry now with the really necessary technique, from produce to actor, the entertainment business tomorrow.
