Hi there. I am new to cars but I enjoy learning as much as I can about them and taking that knowledge and applying it to my car. I have a Mitisubishi 2.0 L non turbo lancer and I want to add more HP. I already purchased a cold air intake (not installed yet) and was thinking of getting a performance exhaust too. I asked a friend if there was anything else I could do to increase performance and he mentioned an ECU. I found one for my car but it said it must be professionally installed, and he also said I should probably install the ECU before I do anything else. First off, what kind of place does this kind of work? Are there any national chain car places that will do it for me? 2nd, should I really wait to install the air intake and exaust until after I get the ECU? Keeping in mind I am trying to get as much power out of my car as possible. Thank you.

you should do it all at one time as the computer will have to be flashed to work properly with all the new stuff you put on . Have it done at a repair shop as you will not be able to relearn the ecu for the better performance you seek and if your new to cars you can blow the ecu if you install it wrong.

To make any changes now would not be good. It is new and if you make any changes befor the warrentt is up will hurt.
If you want more proformace tak the the dealer first and find out what you can do and cant do .
