I don't get them for myself, and I find it very wrong to give them to my child. I'm now 13 weeks pregnant and I have to decide before he/she is born. I want to sign a waiver at the hospital avoiding all vaccinations for religious purposes (though that's not truly the reason, I just don't agree with them). Has anyone else done this? Is it wrong? Need some opinions here.

I have my kids vaxed.

I researched it very well and it was a tough decision. I'm upset that in the US we use vax with aborted baby cells while other countries have switched to a vax that doesn't contain those cells.

I don't think you have to say it's for relegious reasons do you? Surely you can just opt out because you've researched it and don't want it for your child--check into it.

"If it's to prevent children from getting diseases, then how come I never got any horrible diseases?" You can thank the rest of us who vaccinated our kids. The reason deaths by infectious diseases such as measles, etc are down, is because the majority of people have been vaccinated so they don't spread as easily. By the by, vaccines do not cause autism. Both simply occur around the same age, a matter of coincidence if you will. Kinda like when I was 5, and I was holding a daddy long legs and noticed my leg hurt. I had somehow scratched it. Since I noticed at the same time as I was holding the spider, my immature mind linked the 2, and I squashed the spider for hurting me. Can you see the similiarities in thinking between my 5 yr old brain, and the theory of autism and vaccines? Neither makes a lot of sense. My excuse is that I was only 5... what is yours?

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU!
my daughter is 10 months and no shots. I don't like the fact that they have mercury in them. Although vaccinations are not maid with mercury anymore, but doctors have the next 2 years +/- to go through their current stock. Even when my child was born I made sure that she didn't receive any vaccinations. they put eyedrops in her eyes to clear any bacteria and they gave her a vitamin K shot to make sure that her blood would clot properlly incase she needed surgery of somesort. Otherwise I haven't given her anything. I try to use everything homeopathic as much as possible. Offcourse it is a big fight with the doctors but when I make my appointments I tell the receptionist to make a note that no vaccinations are wanted, nor are they to be discussed! you can also check with you center of health for your town to see when the last time they had outbreaks or each disease that the vaccinations are for. If by chance you do choose to get vaccinations later in their lives ask for single dose shots. It's a small vile that only contains enough for one imunizations therefore it only get used once. Ask to make sure that they is no mercury or other preservatives in the vaccination, if there is ask for a complete print out of each ingredient and ask for a copy of the vile contents.
dont' worry about school I know many people who have gotten their kids in without shots.

I think you should have your child vaccinated because you don't want your child to be vulnerable to diseases. The vaccines will help your child fight them and potentially save their life. It is ultimately your choice so think about it also consult with your boyfriend he has an opinion too. Maybe you should discuss this with your Ob/GYN and pediatrician so you can make an educated guess. Best of luck and Congratualtions.

Who's to say what's right and wrong. If you don't want to have your baby immunized, that's your business. My only concern to you would be that without the immunizations, your baby runs the risk of becoming sick with some very dangerous (and in some cases, potentially fatal) diseases. Just keep in mind that many people who live in this country are coming here from other countries that don't require immunizations, and these people are bringing some of the less common ones (polio, for example) with them. That's why even though we may not have had a polio outbreak in the US in decades, they still vaccinate against it for this very reason--immigrants (especially illegal ones).

You have the right to do what you want, but just think that if later on your child gets a disease that could have been prevented would you feel guilty then.... especially if it leaves them immobile or on feeding tubes for the rest of their life? Also later on schools may prohibit you from letting your child be a student to protect other students...

You have the right, but choosing not to vaccinate may be dangerous and could result in your child not being allowed into public schools.

Its your choice but you could be harming your child. Vaccinations help protect against viruses already known. It helps your child build up antibodies against such diseases. Some schoold won't let unvaccinated children attend. You might want to do some better homeowrk before you make your decision.

i think its selfish not to vaccinate your child.....youre opening them and making them vulnerable to many MANY deadly diseases and things that could be so much worse then getting the shot in the firtst place.....
