I am taking the GRE soon (next 4-5months) but been out of school since 2001. What are some good studying tips for a person who has not had to do it in so long? I also work full time and I am very afraid that I won't be able to balance my time propperly.

I took the GRE Dec 29th. I am average to above-average intelligence and have been writing papers for college for the past 2 years. That said, I only made a 430 verbal score and 740 quantitative. thank goodness I knew the math part....If I had to do it again, I would study vocabulary much more!!!! There were only 3 questions that I was confident I knew....many of the words I had never even seen before.
There are several free online tests to take but I would recommend the following:
http://testprep.about.com/od/gregeneraltest/tp/ETSfreeGRE.htm
Especially the free program from ets.

Also, be sure you study the answer format for the math questions. the quantity in column A and column B answers were confusing .

GOOD LUCK!!!!

When I took the GRE I had been out of school for 4 years. I took it and did very well and here's how I studied: I bought one of those GRE study books (and it had like 6 practice tests in it). I took one of the practice tests, with the time limit. Then I looked at the errors I made and worked on those problems and studied a few words here and there. Then I did another sample test. Repeated 6 times and got better every time. When I took the actual test I kicked @SS. It might not work for you or anyone else but it's a method I swear by.

Goto www.princetonreview.com , they have a few options depending on your budget. Also go to Best Buy and try to find a reputable software program. Best of luck.
