You should call your doctor to be sure, but it's probably nothing to worry about. Ligaments around your uterus stretch as you get bigger, and this often causes sharp pain in this area.

Is this your first baby? During my pregnancy, I had a lot of pain in my abdomen and was very concerned. I asked my doctor and he told me that it is your ligaments stretching to make room for the growing baby. Don't be alarmed if the pains are quite intense, it's normal. I would mention any pains you are having to your doctor, but more than likely, you are just having "growing pains".

As long as the pain is not agony then I would say dont worry. Your body is undergoing major changes and sometimes this can cause pain. When I was 9wks I was admitted to hospital for pain in my abdomen and it turned out to be a harmless pregnancy cyst!

Your body is starting to shift organs out of the way to make room for the growing baby. Drink Water..lots of water!

Oh and do yourself a favor..start putting cocoa butter by palmers on your stomach and your skin now like several times a day everyday. I did it (I was pregnant three times) and not one stretch mark.

As a father of two I know what it is like. It maybe that you have an upset stomac or it could be a small kick. Ya never know. If the pain concists than you need to see a doc as soon as possible. Also you can go to http://www.webmd.com and check your symptoms.

As long as you are not spotting, there should be no cause for alarm, its probably just your uterus growing. Pregnancy can be frightening, the first time, because you don't know what to expect!
Whenever in doubt call your doctor though.
