sweetie, listen to all those people who are telling you that YOU DO NOT NEED A VISA TO GO TO THE PHILIPPINES! don't listen to those who say you need to get one because they are completely wrong. in your belgian passport, it may say where you were born and if it says the Philippines, then you are a balikbayan and can be there as long as you want....not only for one year but you qualify to stay as long as you want since now you can have dual citizenship because that law has been passed during cory aquino's time.

also, if you want to be doubly cautious, why not bring your birth certificate just to give you peace of mind that you were born there but you do not need it if your passport says you were born in the Phil.

my husband and i went to the phil. last year and stayed 5 months. i had my usa passport and so does my husband who is american born. he did not even need a visa because he came in with me and since i am a balikbayan and our last names are the same, the law provides that a spouse of a balikbayan can enter the philippines are stay there 3 months. well, we overstayed because my brother in cebu passed away during our trip but had no problems when we left.

we will be back to the philippines sometime this year again to visit my father and family in cebu and are so excited about it. you will have a great time there seeing the family again. have a nice time and enjoy all the adobo, pinakbet, laing, dinuguan (my favorite), pancit malabon, halo-halo, crispy pata, and bagoong with green mango!!!! naglalaway na ako!

Next month? I hope you already have a Belgian passport.

Don't forget to bring your Philippine passport as proof of Philippine nationality to avail of the Balikbayan visa rules (1 year from date of entry for you and your hubby) and to get into the Duty Free Philippines FiestaMall. Much wider selection of pasalubong items than at the airport.

As a former Filipino citizen you are given a 1 year automatic balikbayan Visa stamped upon arrival at the airport by an immigration agent. The immigration officer can adjudicate that by your purpose of visit i.e. visit parents, siblings cousins etc.. You don't have to bribe or be afraid it is your right to avail of the 1 year visa.

Moreover, based on the recent legislation... you are entitled to re-acquire your citizenship. The law now allows that. Hence you can have "dual" citizenship.

My point is that as former Filipino, you are always welcome to visit your native country without much immigration hassle, and spend your hard earnd euro dollar to help prop-up the local economy..... enjoy.

As a former Filipino, you are given a one year visa at the port of entry. Also, you can apply for a dual citizenship if Belgium allows its citizens.

You are allowed as balikbayan. no need to secure any visa. you can stay for a year in the Philippines. if you still have your old Philippine passport, just bring it along for reference in case.
