I am talking about the first babies born on January 1.

A lot of times they get gift baskets from the hospital or from local businesses. My nephew was the first baby born in the hospital in 1998 and he got a savings bond and some other stuff.

A disadvantage is that you can't claim the baby on the previous year's taxes.

none--in fact there are more disadvantages. Their birthday is so close to Christmas, people tend to feel that they are missing out
on the normal parties others get.
