Better scan with another antivirus. It is always better to depend on system restore so that un- identified errors are undone with out affecting the basic operating system. I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html
The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

If you are using DEFENDER, that program is only for spyware and pop ups. It is not supposed to take the place of your anti-virus program. Some programs are better then others when it comes to finding and removing certain spyware programs. One of the main things is that you will want to make sure that DEFENDER is up to date with all the latest definitions. This will make sure that DEFENDER can detect the latest spyware programs out there. You will also want to check and make sure that you have the latest version of the DEFENDER software. Since it is in BETA format, they are continuously upgrading.

#1:Check microsoft.com for current virus definitions(do a forced update for %100 assurance) and #2. Defender, or any other program for that matter, only picks up whats its been programmed to pick up. Meaning-there are 100s of viruses and it is impossible for one program to find all of them and every kind of them. So I would suggest using Ad Aware SE+X-Cleaner+Norton(pain in the *** to reinstall, possible registry reseting required on select model of CPUs)

check out the "view details" after those infections are detected.
see the risk level and determine for yourself which anti-virus you need to disable, running more than 1 av program will cause another to work inappropriately.

It could b that you have something that came with a program or file you downloaded, like limewire or file sharing programs. They aren't called viruses and sometimes pose no threats.
