Soap opera?

Question

For Drama class, we have to write something about a soap opera. I asked my teacher for some examples and she said " Friends" and I didn't think that was a soap opera. Is it? If not can you name some? That I could get on the first like 100 channels because we only have 100.

Days of Our Lives is the best soap opera ever. And I hate soap operas. That comes on in the afternoon as do many soap operas. Friends is not a soap opera. It is a sitcom. There are evening soap operas like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, The O. C., Seventh Heaven. These are all examples of Soap Operas. Sitcoms are short, situation related, comedy mostly as opposed to drama (which soap operas are big on) and don't run in order. Soap Operas run for years. True soap operas never repeat. Unless they have gone off of the air. They do not make sense out of order. People follow them for many years. I suggest that you watch Days for a week and you'll see what I mean. There are whole magazines that are dedicated to soap opera watching, in case you missed something, you can catch up on what's going on. They can be found in the checkout aisle at any grocery store. Pick up a copy of Soap Opera Digest.

Try all the channels Start do you have abc right now or WTVM? then thats where all the soap operas are at. At night they are on another channel called soap net. Friends is not a soap opera, it is a show. Soap operas have emotion, friends is a comedyshow. These are the soap operas:

cool u have 100 hundred channels i only have like what.... 25 or something like that. well anyway noooo Friends is not a soap opra thats a sitcom. A soap oprah is like drama and most of them come on during the day if you speak spanish they have better soap opras there called novelas they are on most of time on the spanish channels. For Example:

General Hospitals
Passions

i guess you could say friends is bc they always have drama going on but it is funny drama. the young and the restless, the bold and the beutiful, and one life to live,

you should also ask your teacher what defines a soap oprea bc i dont think soaps have to be serious all the time. maybe a definition will help you see why she said friends is a soap oprea i didnt think friends was either but maybe in the definition of what a soap is maybe it explains why friends could be considered a soap.
