please could somebody tell when I run a scan in windows defender it comes up with no infections but other anti

Scanner programs are written by humans. Each writer has his own list of what is and is not "spyware". (Same with Viruses). So one program will detect everything, and no two programs detect all of the same things. So it is recommended that you use two different scanners, and alternate between them each time you scan. I recommend either Skybot Seek&Destroy or Ad-Aware SE Personal (both free at download.com) as a second scanner.

Also - Defenders only finds "spyware", not viruses. So you need a virus scanner also. Recommend either Avast or AVG Free (both available at download.com)
