I did some research and saved ithe information on floppy diskette because I do not have internet service at home in the remote area where I live; but I can use the facilities at my job. When I opened the files I saved on the diskette I got a lot of folders and other stuff. This is not funny but Windows wanted to know which program to use to open a file. I didn't know; so I have 2 diskettes full of images and information I cannot access. In fact, I have a lot of folders/files on my computer that I cannot open because I do not know which program to use. When I select Word or Publisher I get garbled information I cannot understand.I want to know how to find printer friendly web pages or save web pages that will come out intelligible when I open them. All I want is the information for myself or my students. I need this resolved so that when students encounter a similar situation during research they will know how to handle it.

I need images-e.g. mariner's compass and text when I research information.

As I understand it, you download pages on computers that have the internet, and then try to bring the pages home. Do you need to copy media, or is it just the text that you need?
