No, that's legal under copyright law. Interestingly, breaking any copy protection may not be legal. Clearly a conflict in the laws that has yet to be addressed conclusively by the courts. Most likely due to the fact that there have not been any prosecutions brought against anyone who has copied a CD for personal archival purposes.

If you distribute copies you are in violation of the law. Personal gain is NOT required to break the law. Few P2P sharers do it for personal gain but there's no question that they're in violation of the law.

If you give away or sell the original CD, you must either include all copies with the original or destroy all copies.
