I have been having problems with acid reflux for about a week now. I am 31 1/2 weeks prego. Does anyone know of something other than tums that will help settle my stomach and not hurt my baby?

Milk helped me a LOT. Along with an item called "Preggie Pops." They have ginger in them to help with upset tummies and calmed me down right away. I found that my nausea was really heartburn related and once I started with Milk and those lil candies (you can get them at most stores- Motherhood and babies r us has them) I felt MUCH better

Hope that helps!

hmmm milk? Or well everything I can think of is just like tums, (rolaids) I am 28 weeks pregnant and I just chug some ice cold milk. So it gives you that chilly feeling down your chest. I hate tums too, and I have been dealing with the heart burn (ignoring it) and using milk

tums is the only thing i was told i could take by both my ob and the pharmacist.......maalox, pepto, rolaids, all contain a chemical that can affect the baby......go to the drug store and ask the pharmacist, they all have a big book that tells them what drugs cause problems and how much of a risk they are. My pharmacist uses it all the time.

Mylanta worked for me. I would take that before I went to bed with a big glass of milk. I drank TONS of milk. This seemed to work for me.

I also slept under 2 pillows. You can put blocks under the top portion of your bed so it sits up higher. It'll keep the reflux down a bit better.

You can try to eat smaller meals.

My wife used to eat grape popsicles, it worked for her, soda crackers can work too. If the burning is that bad, ask your doctor, there are many remedies on the market and I am sure some of them are useless. You probably need an acid blocker.

Try Maalox liquid form....it helps a lot and try and drink a half glass or a full glass of milk before you eat. It might help. I know having a smaller tummy right now is hard but thats what I did. Eat smaller portions of food and try and stay upright before and after eating. Hope this helps!

Gaviscon is safe, I took tonnes of it when I was pregnant.

NOT MALOXX OR MYLANTA OR PEPTO. They are not considered safe. I had wicked bad heart burn, so I also made sure not to eat less than an hour or two before bed.
