Put the baby in water and see if it floats. If it does the styrofoam is still intact. If the baby sinks..then the styrofoam has dissolved. Don' t forget not to leave the baby in the bath water alone.

Have you called the doctor to let them know that this has occured? IF not then definately at least call them, make them aware of the situation and see if there is anything that needs to be done, like a stool softener or even some laxatives, but that all depends on the childs age as well. Good Luck!

Hi, I would say that if it has been a couple of weeks since your puppy has eaten styrofoam, it means that he/she has passed it in his poop but you may not had noticed it. I would not worry if your puppy is eating regularly and drinking good. Keep you floor clean of things that he can get into. Puppies are alot like babies and don't realize that not all things are good to eat. In time he/she will learn what is not safe to eat and what is good to eat. Until than, you must keep things out of his reach.

Styrofoam (expanded styrene) is bad stuff, call poison control first then I would go to emergency and have the child checked out. I would not waste too much time, with chemical you never know what can happen. It also depends on the quantity ingested, but do not fool around with this, get proper treatment asap.

I don't have any children but my instinct would be it can't hurt to give a call and you probably should (especially if there is ever a next time), especially if their stools have been normal. If their Stools haven't been normal or if they are constipated I would nix the call & take them in and have things check out. Better safe than sorry.
In the future, while it's hard to watch them every moment, try to keep little items like that out of reach.

Taking the child to the Dr. would have been the first thing to do.
When a child ingests something the first thing you do usually is call up poison control. They can tell you where to go from there.
Styrofoam can block the intestines. I would seriously get this child to the Dr. and a possible X-ray.

Oh, it's a PUPPY? Whew. Well, my dogs eat everything they can get their little mouths on.
It will most likely pass, if it hasn't already and you've missed it. If the dog starts to act lethargic or starts vomiting, then it's time to call. My dogs have passed ALL sorts of things....

I would definately call your Dr. or the ER to hear what they have to say. When my son swallowed a penny we had to have an x-ray taken to make sure it hadn't entered the lungs. Please call and see what they suggest.
