Here is a really cunning idea ... why not visit the Fire HQ or ring them up & ask them ?
If that's too difficult for you, why not use the 'priority' service ?
Just dial 999 and when the nice lady answers, ask for the "Fire Service" .. if you give your address, some of the local Firemen will drive round & drop in for a chat !

dunno but would love to be the interviewer, too many ugly fireman about nowadays.. lol only joking.... i really don't know,and didn't know that they had fixed recruiting times!!! just contact your local station and ask them they should be able to give you the info you need!!!!! Let me know if they are all ugly in your watch if you get in hahahahaha !!! joking again,,, lol good luck and all the best for 2007!!!!
