Unreal Tournament 2004?

Question

Does anyone else think that the Flak Cannon is a bit overpowered, especially on close quarter maps?

Also, who do you think would win on a 1 on 1 deathmatch? Xan Kriegor or Malcolm?

I'd prefer only actual players of UT2004 to answer this. I'll report anyone who just spams. So I know that you know what you're talking about, name one random character from UT2004 excluding those mentioned above. Thanks.

The flak cannon is actually my favourite weapon.
Its alternate fire is excellent for long range (especially when your opponent is cornered, or you are above them).
Mid range, it is a bit overpowered and you can get damaged by your own hot metal.
Close up? That's when the flak cannon comes into it's own - one shot will take out anyone who doesn't have extra shields.

I've not played UT much, but I own 2003 which is pretty similar, so I hope my answer is not considered spam...

I dont think its that overpowered, since in close combat the projectiles can hit yourself as a player, thus the drawback.

However, in areas where there is less chance of getting hit by your own flak projectiles or shells, you are unlikely to be using this weapon as others can do the job better such as shock rifle or link gun where the ability to hit yourself is nil.

Just remember, there is a conter defense and offense for every weapon in UT. It cant have survived so many incarnations without being somewhat very balanced.

That said, Im looking VERY MUCH forward to fraggin in 2007 :D
