*I was on one of the regular movie sites I look at when I found this*HELLRAISER REMAKE- This project is in the very early stages of development, as there's not even a script yet, but the plans are set and Clive seems very interested in revisting the film.
- It's unknown whether Doug Bradley will return as Pinhead.
- The Pinhead in this film will be different from the one we've grown to love.
- Clive said that he plans to have this to be both the beginning and end of Pinhead.
- This film will have an obviously bigger budget, with hopes to do things that the original could never do.
- The Weinstein Company is behind this.
- Clive will serve as writer and producer to this redux, as he was detailed saying that he'd feel too weird to direct a remake of his own movie.
- This is a remake of the classic 1987 Clive Barker film.
.*Why do they like to remake movies that were already great the first time?*

I totally agree with you. I understand Barker's reasoning and he likes the idea of the bigger budget I am sure. Without Doug Bradley, it seems dumb. He is so amazingly frightening. I am willing to see it when it comes out, and I will do my best to withhold my judgement until the end. It's got to be about the money to some degree...I really think that Barker wants to see it done with all that extra money. I get the impression he had to make sacrifices on the first one, sacrifices that he really would like to avoid this time around. It is sort of sad that they think the only way to bring in a big audience is to remake old favorites. I don't think it's a lazy thing, I think it's a desperation thing. They know that people don't go to the theaters much anymore...they know we want more story in less time. No makes a movie longer than 100 minutes (Peter Jackson excluded) I really can't say what the real reason or motivation is...I hope it's good, I hope it does well, I hope I don't hate it.

Probally, because, well like on here yesterday. There was a question asking about 'Hellraiser' and 'Pinhead'. Only a few people out of over 20 knew of 'Hellraiser' and NOT ONE of all those people could remember the name of 'Pinhead'. So that's a little proof that there's a generation of movie goers who have not experienced the horrors of Clive Barker's Hellraiser! So the time is ripe for a remake. The first one will always be a classic! If interest gets built up from a remake coming out to make new people discover and old people re-discover the original Hellraiser, then that's a good thing. Personally, I don't think it'll regain the popularity it had there for a couple years, but who knows, maybe the newer Pinhead will 'Tear our souls APART!'...LOL!

It's a shame that there are no more original ideas left. Or at least thats what the movie makers are saying. I think scripts are being sent in & producers aren't reading them or looking into editing them. There's a lot of great stories still ready to be told. Horror seems really in right now with ALL of these petty attempts to the whole genre. It's insulting they keep re-making & updating plots of classics. Like Black Christmas should have been left alone. Just as HELLRAISER should be left alone. What's next? A Remake of the original Halloween & they're still adding on to that!

Because Hollywood has gotten lazy. And why shouldn't they? No matter what garbage they put on the screen, people go out in droves to see it. Same thing applies to the music industry today with all the remakes. Why write a new song? That takes way too much effort and talent.

i think (well i hope) that he is trying to bring it closer to the novella "the hellbound heart" there was a lot missing from the movie and the cenobites where all totally different from the book. bit of a shame really cos i love all the movies so far and i just hope that they dont massacre this one. also looking forward to "the scarlet gospels" which is his new book concerning the hellraiser mythos.

well i agree its not needed, but with all the sequels (like 10 of em) i guess he decided the storyline finally lost it and wanted to get back to basics.
