Smegma is not usually that much of a problem, as you wash it away in the shower. You may need a dietary change - do you eat a lot of fast food/junk food? Add some fresh green veggies and fruit. As a temporary fix, get some chloryfyll tablets at the health food store. That will decrease the odor in all of your bodily secretions.
Circumcision is a ridiculous idea - intact men don't smell any more than cut men.

If you are not circumsized I would say that is the problem. I dated someone who was uncircumsized and there was always a strange odor. He was like you, he showered a couple of times a day.

are you sexually active? maybe its the girl your with.are you circumsized? some men that are uncircumsized have a smell from there foreskin
