I bought a laptop off of the company that I work for. I formatted the hard drive completely to get rid of all programs and files. Yet when I turn on the computer the very first screen that pops up says "name of the company I bought it from" then below that it has the normal hp symbol. Then below that it says press f8 to boot some special mode.

My question is how do I get rid of "the company name" on the first page?

If you formatted it, why didn't you just re-installed windows?

Within knowing the model, I can only "guideline" not give specifics, but the name is probably stored in the BIOS of the computer. On the first boot up screen there is normally a key you press to get into the computer's set up. (F2 for Dell, F10 for Compaq, Delete, etc). Press that key and enter the BIOS. Look through the screen threre for a place with "Owner" or "Asset" information. You should be able to find and change that information in there.
