Do you want to upgrade to DSL service provided by AOL, or do you want to get DSL from say..... ATT and then connect to AOL?

DSL from AOL is pricey, more so than just about any other provider, but if that's how you want to roll, call them up and tell them you want to go with AOL DSL or use the options provided in the software to upgrade.

A far better method is to get DSL through your local telephone service provider, and then change your AOL account to a BYOA account (bring your own access account) at AOL. AOL does NOT charge a monthly access fee if you use BYOA.

There you have it. I seriously would go with option 2.
