They may spot check people, but they won't monitor every single person on every single site. They don't have the capabilities as it could be hundreds of people using the internet at the same time.

They may do but it would depend on the policy of the university. Normally they would be pretty relaxed as long as you weren't doing anything illegal.
Your university should have terms and conditions that outline what is accetable.
If you have your own phone/bb connection this would be outside their control

yeah. if it's the uni network. some systems have a programme that looks out for dodgy keywords in the sites..etc so they'll start monitoring you if these sites start coming up.
don't know what your unis like but mines very very anti porn. so it's the top racks in dingy newsagents for you.

By law they have to tell you otherwise it is forbidden under the confidentiality act (cnt remember when it was im nt that square!) so check. If you use their internet check anything you signed for... IF they haven't they won't be (or if they are and you find out you can sue their **** off)
