pls help me about this my mistake
i am using win-98 and win-xp
by my mistake boot.ini file is courrputed
so my o.s.(win-xp or win98) can not started
how can i restore this boot.ini file without stat of any operating systeam

u could do that if u have xp cd..if u have then insert it and boot to the cd....press R to enter the recovery console and copy a boot.ini file from a system similar to yours or make one on someone else computer using the link provided...burn that file to the xp cd as well or copy and in the recovery console copy it to ur system partiton (usually it is C:)...

else if u have a recovery floppy, copy the file from the bootable floppy...

else make ur own bootable floppy and copy the boot.ini file from floppy to the system drive ( eg C:\)


else u could install any 1 os again

else u could repair the system using the xp cd(u may loose ur data)...

hope ur problems gets solved.....

Create a boot disk for your OS and follow the instructions.


OR.....
Start your PC with a WIN98 startup disk. At the C:\ prompt, type EDIT BOOT.INI.
This will bring up the boot file and you can edit it.
BTW, it's not corrupt, it's a text file.

boot disk if it does not start from hdd.
