I've heard that funeral homes are usually family owned/run and it's hard to get a job in a funeral home or as a mortician if you're not related to whomever runs it. Are there any respectable chain funeral homes that don't necessarily work this way?

It is no longer true that you have to know someone to work in a funeral home. You have just as good of chance as anyone. You first will need to attend mortuary school andthen serve an intership. No, it is not hard at all to get a job, funeralnet.com has tons of listings for funeral directors. Good luck!

It depends where the funeral home you want to work at is located and also what school you went to . If you get an internship at school it will make it a whole lot easier. IM me if you have questions.

To get into any career, it's not what you know but whom you know. Dead or alive.
