I have been a friend of Bill's for over 5 years now .
Without living by the steps I would not even be alive today .

I don't think so. I just learned about the Twelve Steps 3 year ago. My husband introduced them to me, not through AA but through a book he wrote.
But I believe that anyone following the steps can definitely improve his/her life, with God's help and guidance from His Word.
