Rear Window was released in 1954, and Psycho didn't come about until 1960. So how come that famous poster publicising Rear Window states 'if your nerves can stand it after Psycho...'. Was the poster for some sort of video release?

The movie wasn't shown at theatres for thirty years and re-released only in 1984 - and the first thing I did was go and see Vertigo and Rear Window on screen! I remember that the announcement posters at that time looked rather old fashioned - so it might well be that you saw one of those announcing the re-release.
IMDB says:
"The film was unavailable for decades because its rights (together with four other pictures of the same period) were bought back by Alfred Hitchcock and left as part of his legacy to his daughter. They've been known for long as the infamous "Five Lost Hitchcocks" among film buffs, and were re-released in theatres around 1984 after a 30-year absence. The others are The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), Rope (1948), The Trouble with Harry (1955), and Vertigo (1958)."

It is referring to the re-release trailer for Rear Window. It must have been made around 1960, since the last card refers to Psycho.

Yes, after Psycho (Hitchcock's biggest success to date) there was a renewed interest in his films, many of which were re-released.

on the poster in question it states in small writing at the top "Paramount proudly RE-presents....looks like it was released again after the success of Psycho.
