I dont think it is weird to have children after 40. But in the long run when the kids are teens how can a 60 years old keep up unless your the few who can. Even after that there whould be no enjoying helping your kids with theie kids, i dont think elderly people can handle it well. But like i said unless your very healthy and can keep up completely with everything.

I had my daughter at 36, 40 is not much older. I say if you want a baby go for it. Yes, the risks are higher of having a baby with a birth defect but they have tests for that. I would not let that stop you or anyone elses opinion. You will see it will work out. Good luck.

Nah, Just should think of the children as project 20 years ahead when the 40 something is now 60 something wanting to retire or something else rather than see the child thru college... otherwise nothing wrong with it...

It's not weird at all. Technology is different. People are starting to take better care of themselves now-a-days so they are tending to live longer lives (generally speaking). Of course, there are the increased risk factors that come along with wanting to conceive at a later age, but most of the time, people believe that the outcome outweighs the risks. My mom had me when she was 38 and everything is fine (I'm 32 now). I know a lot of people whose parents had them at their late 30's to mid 40's. There's nothing wrong with it.

It is not weird, but it does have a higher risk of micarriage and birth defects. A pregnant woman over 40 should be visiting a high risk pregnancy ob/gyn

I think weird is maybe the wrong word. Some people never had thought about it before, or maybe if they did, they didn't have a partner that they wanted to share it with. My sister is over forty and having her first child, we are all happy for her, because its something that she really wants. Of course she is aware of the risk involved as they increase the older you are, its a personal choice.

Not weird but not very healthy. 35 i think is when women should stop having children, for health reasons. Also there are risks like Down Syndrome and multiples.

No. I mean, it may make you an older parent, but it's not weird. The only thing I would say is that you may experience more complications at that age, than you would if you were younger.

Not weird - just prolongs the time when you can have your own life back. The time where you can travel and do all the things you can't with a child.
