I want to start as soon as possible so that I dont feel like I wasted my money on the class itself. Any suggestions on how to find the doctors that need medical transcriptionists.

Try the website MTJobs.com -- it's a listing site for available MT jobs, plus you can post your resume there so that places looking for MTs can find you too.

Good luck with the job hunt. Just so you'll know, it may take awhile to find your first job because many places are looking for people with at least a little experience. If you're able and willing to work from home, rather than in-house, that will open up more possibilities for you because you'd be eligible to work for transcription companies all over the US. (I currently work for a company in southern California even though I live in the midwest!)

Of course, if you want to work in-house, just keep searching the classified ads -- The holidays aren't a really busy time for MTs, so it may be another week or two before jobs really start to open up again.

The important thing is not to get discouraged....there is someone out there who will be willing to give you a chance - it's just a matter of you finding them, or them finding you.

Call your local hospital and ask if they know anyone. (the hr dept)
Check your local newspaper for help wanted ads. Depending on where you took the class, they should be able to help you find work.

Good luck!

Did you take the course through a trade school? Do they offer job placement?
