My son had to have an upper Gi and a chest Xray and i was in the room.

Hi! The first thing they should have asked is whether you even thought you might be pregnant. I'm assuming they gave you a lead apron to wear. However, with today's equipment being digital, the dose to everyone in the room is significantly reduced. Whatever dose you received is very low. As far as birth defects/miscarriage, don't let folks scare you by mentioning countries that have had radiation disasters...that is an ENORMOUS dose, hopefully something you or me will never see in our lifetimes.

umm, not sure i just know that even if the x-ray isnt done on you, you shouldnt expose your self to radiation if pregnant, did they know you were pregnant?? my son had to have an x-ray and my mom had to be in there with him cause they wouldnt let me being pregnant.

It's radiation. Not to make you worry or anything if it's your kid but look at the deformities in Africa and other countries were harmful radiation occurs

i dunno, ive heard it can cause defects/miscarrige but i dont know exactly. i hope nothing too severe because when i was first pregnant, like just a few days/maybe a week along i had to have a catscan. i told the dr. but he said that he had no choice but to do it. so far nothing out of the ordinary!

You wouldn't get enough of a dose to cause any problems.
