Some of the people answering this question are sadly misinformed and think the media has a liberal bias. Here is a non-profit website that documents the objective evidence of rightwing bias in the American media.

There is no equivalent record of liberal bias in the media, because it does not exist.
I am really interested in hearing theories about WHY the media is biased, not contradictions from people who cannot substantiate their statements.
Thanks.

The owners of the Media are Republicans.
Liberal baiting and bashing are ratings getters.
Simplify the message into sound bites and slogans; add celebrity who-dun-its and you be entertainin and makin that MONEY.

They don't. The problem is that the news media doesn't always say things you want to hear so people say they are bias. New Media report facts. Good bad or ugly.
Remember most people in the media are liberal. However the owners of the networks are republicans. So a balance is needed.

because they have control over the media. Even thought Bush is the most corrupt leader of all mankind it will never be reported as so. George Bush President of the United States is a man without honor. He has spread shame on America, it's Constitution, and it's People. It is a highly embarrassing situation for every Good American. This Man has spun completely out of control and he needs to be stopped immediately. President Bush has discounted himself to nothing more then a mere "War Criminal."

It doesn't!!!
Have you ever read the Washington Post or the New York Times? NEITHER of them have a conservative bias! Both are strongly liberal. Just look at who they endorse in elections - it is ALWAYS the democrats!
My bachelors degree is in American Government, and even my very liberal liberal arts professors agreed that the media has a liberal bias.

A better question would have been . . . "In what way do you think that the American news media has a conservative bias, and in what ways a liberal bias."

Money. they get Kickbacks for running the government's well, propaganda fr want of a better word. in 2005 they were caught at it with a bunch of fake news slots to be given to he media that the Department of Education had made to look like news stories that promoted No Child Left Behind.

The American news media is mostly liberal and you must mean "strong hatred toward Republicans and the right wing."
